Store Management Opportunities

Our current store management opportunities:

Iowa: Boone, Guthrie Center, Washington

Missouri: Higginsville, Jane, Sedalia

Store management candidates should possess a minimum of three years retail management/supervisory experience, effective people skills, and excel in leading and directing. Temporary relocation is generally a requirement for training. Relocation limitations are determined and agreed upon prior to hire. Agriculture background, product knowledge, retail management and hardlines experience preferred. Orscheln store managers fit the following criteria:

  • Provide exemplary customer service.
  • Recruit, evaluate, train and lead store staff.
  • Be familiar with, adhere to, and enforce Company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the P&L including sales, gross margin, payroll control and shrink.
  • Maintain a program of store standards for image and facilities maintenance.
  • Implement Advertising and Sales promotion programs.
  • Display strong merchandising throughout store and execute plan-o-grams.
  • Adherence to legal guidelines, including such things as OSHA requirements, price changes, etc.
  • Give input in preparing and adherence to budget guidelines.
  • Maintain strong communications between store and all support departments.
  • Active business member, in good standing, within the community.

Assistant Store Management Opportunities

We currently have assistant store management opportunities in the following locations:

Assistant store management candidates are trained in all functions of store management. They have full responsibility of the store in the absence of the store manager. Daily routine and assignments consistently require skill and knowledge closely related to the position of store manager, to include merchandising the sales floor with freight handling, processing, and operating a forklift. Agriculture background, product knowledge, supervisory and hardlines experience a plus. Assistant store managers must be committed to excellent customer service. This position offers flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends) and valuable growth potential.

Department Head - Sporting Goods

We currently have Department Head - Sporting Goods opportunities in the following locations:

Missouri: Neosho

Oklahoma: Durant

Texas: Weatherford

Individual will oversee the day to day operations of the sporting goods department, including overseeing compliance and sales of new firearms, responsible for daily and monthly firearms counts and balancing, as well as supervision of the department associates. One plus years of experience in a retail establishment, ATF compliance knowledge and experience, general firearms knowledge, strong communication and leadership skills required. Must be at least 21 years of age, subject to applicable background check, and committed to efficient and excellent customer service. Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.

Store Manager Trainee Opportunities

We currently have store management trainee opportunities in the following locations:

Illinois: Flora

Iowa: : Shenandoah

Kansas: Ottawa, Salina

Missouri: Chillicothe, Dexter, Marshall, Maryville, Moberly, Savannah

Nebraska: Lincoln, Seward

Store manager trainees work under the on-site store manager. Training is a structured, nine-phase program for working manager trainees. Completion of the training is three to twelve months, based upon prior retail and/or management experience. Relocation from the training store location is a requirement after training is successfully completed. Relocation limitations are determined and agreed upon prior to hire. Retail, management, and agriculture background is a plus.

College Students - Store Manager Trainee Education Assistance

The Store Manager Trainee Education Assistance Program is designed to provide part-time employment for approved Orscheln Store Manager Trainees, who are full-time students, by reimbursing education costs and by benefiting both the employee and the Company by offering full-time employment after completion of the employees' education.

Eligibility

  • Full-time Junior or Senior student (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) at an accredited college or university, enrolled in a Company approved degreed program.
  • Part-time Orscheln Farm & Home employee in good standing (minimum of 20 hours per week).

General Guidelines

  • Employee must commit for a minimum of one-year full-time employment with Orscheln Farm & Home after completion of degree.
  • Education reimbursement begins at the completion of the first full semester as an Orscheln Farm & Home employee.
  • Must have a minimum of a "C" grade average for the semester.

Payment

  • Payment of up to $1,000.00 per semester, for a maximum of four (4) semesters.
  • Must present proof of acceptable grades, verification of full-time enrollment and proof of education-related expenses.

Associate Degree Students

Employees who are employed during the duration of their last semester or longer, and upon completion of an approved Associates Degree at an accredited college or university, may be eligible for a one-time payment of $500.00. The above "General Guidelines" apply.

Marketing Department Assistant

Reports to the Ecommerce and Brand Manager.

Summary:

Full-time, temporary (summer) position. Support the Marketing department in data entry, formatting spreadsheets, and working on the company website.

Qualifications:

  • Working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) on a Mac platform
  • Detail Oriented

Maintenance Facilitator

Reports to the Stores Facilities Manager.

Summary:

Facilitate day-to-day maintenance of store facilities including maintaining records of requested services, monitoring budgets by verifying invoices, coding expenses and preparing supporting documentation for invoice processing. Troubleshoot email and phone calls for requested maintenance issues. Verify and maintain vendor contact and legal requirements.

Preferred Educational Experience:

High School degree and completion of business/accounting classes preferred.

Preferred Work Experience:

Demonstrated ability to operate office equipment including: ten-key calculators, typewriters, copy machines, fax machines, computer terminals or personal computers. Prior experience working with dispatching work orders or working in the field of maintenance of doors, roofs, mechanical equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Processes invoices to accounting in accordance with submittal process. This includes verification of completed work, price invoiced, supporting documentation, and data entry of the transactions.
  • Verifies lien waivers from vendors are received in a timely manner.
  • Researches discrepancies or problems with vendors on a regular follow up of outstanding service requests.
  • Communicates with stores and vendors via email and phone calls. Dispatching service calls and resolving maintenance issues.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Provides assistance to District Managers on status of service calls.
  • Provides data to Store Facilities Manager for weekly/monthly reporting.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Set Up/Softlines Merchandiser

Reports to the New Store Development Manager

Job Responsibilities:

  • Read layouts and drawings
  • Visual merchandising soft lines areas in new, relocation, and remodel stores including giftware, men’s, ladies, kids, and sporting goods apparel. Duties include unpacking new goods, merchandising goods on the appropriate fixture per the floor plan, pricing, signage and visual displays.
  • Setting of and training personnel on plan-o-grams
  • Install décor and signage elements per company instructions and guidelines
  • Perform basic carpentry skills sufficient to build basic fixtures
  • Training new store personnel in the area of soft lines
  • On-site cooperation and communication with Store Manager/District Manager during remodels, relocations, and/or new store locations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Position requires 90-95% travel/overnights
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexible hours - Typical work schedule is 10 days on/4 days off
  • Practical knowledge and use of hand tools - Will need to operate basic tools to build basic fixtures.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and be able to stand/work on your feet for prolonged periods.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and energetic
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and problem solving skills.

Inventory Coordinator

Responsible for assisting the Inventory Department in Product Distribution throughout the Farm and Home chain. Interacts with Store Personnel, Re-buyers, Product Management, Distribution Center, Accounting and Orscheln Farm and Home suppliers. Reports to the Inventory Planning Administrator.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers the Farm and Home Inventory Help Line and reviews e-mail for product requests from the stores
  • Creates re-writes for the Distribution Center and stores as directed
  • Assists the Inventory Re-buyers with direct ship purchase orders
  • Assists the Re-buyers with product movement from the Distribution Center
  • Contacts Farm and Home suppliers for ship dates and follow-up of purchase orders
  • Produce and send newspaper/publication ads.
  • Assist with creation/maintenance of reports as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Individual reports to a Director of Merchandising.

Responsibilities:

  • Select merchandise assortments
  • Negotiate terms
  • Set pricing to meet sales and margin goals

  • Assist with creation/maintenance of reports as needed
  • Ensure our pricing is competitive in the market

Manages the Operational function from facilities to financials for the Orscheln Farm & Home stores in assigned area. Responsible for hiring, training and development of all levels of store employment. Coordinate the delivery of the quality, Service, and Convenience pledge. Coordinate the delivery of the Orscheln Trademark Customer Service Program. Maintain strong communication between Operations and all departments to insure that Orscheln Farm & Home is the Customers first choice. Excellent multi-tasking skills and outstanding follow-up skills needed. Daily travel to store locations with some overnights required. Reports to a Director of Operations. Multi-unit retail management experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the assigned stores in the performance of all corporate operations to budget.
  • Responsible for sales, gross margin, management index, expense, inventory control and loss prevention.
  • Supervise and train Store Managers.
  • Involved in the hiring/promotional practices for the Associate Store Manager training program.
  • Coordinate employee development to provide a natural progression of a qualified management staff for Stores.
  • Supervise the Orscheln Trademark Customer Service plan.
  • Maintain a program of store standards for image, labor management and facilities maintenance.
  • Implement Advertising and Sales promotion programs.
  • Reliable, predictable attendance.
